Fresh produce
Fruit, vegetables, salads and seasonal produce, often making up a large part of the weekly selection.
A Conger Hill Trust project
Good food, shared locally. We collect surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and make it available to the community.
About the project
Toddington Community Fridge is not a food bank. It is a community food redistribution service, open to everyone. By making surplus food available locally, we reduce waste while helping household budgets stretch further.
What you'll find
What is available depends on the surplus we collect. A typical week may include fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and bakery items, chilled food, dairy products and other groceries.
Fruit, vegetables, salads and seasonal produce, often making up a large part of the weekly selection.
Bread, rolls, pastries and other bakery products collected from local retailers.
When available, this can include dairy products, prepared foods and other suitable chilled items handled within our food safety procedures.
How it works
Our volunteer team collects surplus food from supermarkets, food redistribution partners and other local sources.
Food is transported, stored and checked in line with our food safety management procedures before redistribution.
Visitors select the food they can use. The aim is a welcoming service based on choice, dignity and reducing waste.
Food redistribution partners
Our redistribution partnerships help us rescue more good food and make it available locally.
Felix rescues good food and redistributes it through thousands of charities and community organisations across the UK. Toddington Community Fridge accesses retailer surplus through its food redistribution network.
Visit FelixSOFEA tackles food insecurity and food waste across the South Midlands and Thames Valley. Toddington Community Fridge is supported through SOFEA's community food redistribution work.
